What's the most important thing you want people in the community to know about you?

I have progressed through my climbing career slowly due to my fear of leading. Each time I would get to a bolt, I would freeze up and immediately panic and not be able to move further. Lower level sport climbs (5.5 - 5.7) used to scare the s*** out of me where I had to spend about a year just climbing in this grade to feel more comfortable. I would prefer to lead a vertical 5.10 than a blocky 5.4 route and that is OKAY. Everyone has different fears and complexes to work through, in life and in climbing, and it is okay to identify what you need to work on and spend the time to conquer it (even if it seems easy for everyone else!) I have just started to get psyched on leading and can't wait to work on pushing my grade!

How did you discover climbing?

Through an ex-boyfriend freshmen year in college

What's your go-to karaoke song?

Wannabe - Spice Girls

What's your favorite kind of climbing? Why?

Traditional climbing is my favorite because it takes my attention away from the "what-ifs" and forces me to concentrate on the task as hand.

How do you feel about oatmeal raisin cookies?

LOVE THEM!

What's your biggest challenge - climbing or in life?

My biggest challenge in climbing is to constantly push the thoughts of doubt out of my head...the thoughts of what I would hit if I fall, if a cam is going to fall out, if my belayer is not paying attention....the list goes on. My goal is to continuously work on my head game until I can just focus on the climbing and the task at hand and have trust in everything and everyone else around me.

My biggest challenge in life right now is to conquer my anxiety. Some days I wake up, I am an emotional mess and I don't want to get out of bed or see anyone...even though it is a bright sunny day and I am supposed to go climbing outside with a friend. I would make an excuse as to why I couldn't go to the Never Stop Moving - Training for Climbing Club session because I couldn't bare to pretend like I was "happy, normal" Megan. I used to think...since I am unhappy, I shouldn't go out in public and bring people down. How wrong am I?! I started to push myself to go to the NSM club regardless of my emotional distress and I often found that I would come home being happier than any moment in the rest of my day. The womxn and community of NSM never ceases to amaze me with their support, friendship and determination. THANK YOU!

Where would you go for your dream climbing trip?

Picos de Europa in Spain

What makes you unique?

I have a really loud laugh....HAHAHA

What do you think of Never Stop Moving?

What would you like to share with a potential member?

I love the Never Stop Moving community and seeing the friendships and camaraderie that is created out of it.

Free space!

I am so excited to start showcasing our NSM members and I cannot wait to hear about you and share who you are with the community. I want people of all shapes, colors, sizes, ethnicities, weird quirks, different genders, etc.. to come to NSM and feel welcome. This is one way we are trying to do that! By sharing a little bit about yourself, maybe it will empower others to feel comfortable to join as well.
