Interested in being a trip leader for a Never Stop Moving outdoor climbing trip or Exit 38 climbing trip? Want to go to a crag with friends who are working towards achieving their climbing goals?

Applications for 2020 open until November 30th 2019!

REquired Qualifications:

  • Be currently certified in First Aid and CPR

    (Certification costs $15. If you need to be reimbursed by NSM, we can chat!)

  • Hold a current NSM Membership

  • A minimum of 1 year of rock-climbing experience

  • Solid understanding of rock-climbing anchor systems, leading, and rappelling and cleaning for non-bouldering trips

  • Can lead sport climbs 5.9 or greater outdoors (only necessary for sport climbing only trips)

  • Can boulder V2 outdoors (only necessary for bouldering only trips)

  • Can lead traditional climbs 5.7 or greater (only necessary for traditional climbing only trips)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to manage 5 women at a climbing site

  • Ability to multitask

  • Ability to support others and engage with various personality types

  • Humble, welcoming and fun!

  • High enthusiasm and energy for climbing

  • Loves climbing and wants to share your knowledge and passion with others

Responsibilities:

  • Believe in the mission, vision and core values of Never Stop Moving

  • Volunteer to lead a weekend outdoor climbing trip or Exit 38 climbing trip at least 2 times a year.

  • Attend a Trip Leader Practice Session with Megan Fritz at The Mountaineers Seattle sometime in December 2019. This is mandatory! (If you live far away and cannot attend, we can talk about it!)

  • Organize carpooling via email.

  • Responsible for emailing the participants and answering any questions in a timely manner

  • Understanding the goals of each participant and trying to enable them to achieve their goals

  • Create a Google photo album and send out a survey following the trip.

  • Ask someone on the climbing trip to write a Trip Report following the trip. 

  • Ensure you have a required the necessary number of ropes and climbing gear to lead an efficient climbing trip. You can borrow gear from Megan if need be.

  • Become familiar with the climbing area and climbs people may want to complete during each trip.

  • Create an inclusive and fun atmosphere to have an awesome climbing trip!
